Is available during the week with extended hours on Tuesday
evenings until 5:30 pm. All
technologists are board
certified. ESH mammography
department is accredited by
the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) through
the Mammography Quality
Standards Act (MQSA) and the
American College of
Radiology (ACR). Digital
Mammography arrived at ESH
in November of 2010.
Excelsior Springs Hospital
purchased a LoRad/Hologic
unit. This unit has the best
image quality on the market
and includes computer aided
detection as a “second look”
mechanism to assist the
Radiologist with accurate
diagnosis. Excelsior Springs
Hospital is a Pink Ribbon
Facility. Our new
mammography suite and the
mammography soft pad allow
patients to have this
important screening tool
comfortably, safely, and
accurately. Patients can
self-refer for a screening
mammogram. We strive to make
sure you have the most
pleasant experience
possible. You may call and
schedule your own screening
mammogram at 816-629-2788.
Computerized Tomography (CT):
A new Toshiba Aquilion 64 slice platform CT scanner was
purchased by ESH in March of
2008. This state of the art
equipment allows patients to
have a whole body scan in
less than 30 seconds. Dose
reduction technology ensures
patients receive minimal
radiation with accurate
testing results. This
technology is available 24
hours a day, 7 days a week
for emergent patients who
require immediate diagnosis.
MRI:
MRI or Magnetic Resonance Imaging made its appearance in-house at ESH in August of 2009! ESH purchased a
Toshiba Vantage magnet. The
large, short opening will
assist patients, who
previously could not
tolerate MRI, the ability to
get through an exam without
issues with claustrophobia.
The Toshiba magnet is the
quietest magnet in the area
offering better technology
for patient comfort. Get
your procedures done close
to home.
Ultrasound:
Ultrasound is not just for babies anymore! ESH purchased a
new Philips US unit in
November of 2008. This
equipment will image
thyroids, breast, abdominal,
pelvic, venous and arterial
studies. We also offer
Echocardiograms and Stress
Echocardiograms. All
technologists are board
registered. A new US suite
was added to the department
in November 2010. This
beautiful expansion provides
comfort for patients having
an ultrasound exam.
Nuclear Medicine:
The board registered Nuclear Medicine technologists provides
superior care with small
town hospitality. Nuclear
Medicine is offered 3 days a
week, including heart
imaging.
PET/CT:
PET/CT is a combination of a Nuclear Medicine PET scan and
CT. PET/CT scans help
Physicians better understand
the exact location and
extent of disease, thus
allowing Physicians to
develop the best treatment
plan for their patient.
PET/CT can reveal disease
when CT or MRI is negative
or inconclusive.
PET/CT services are
offered twice a month at
ESH.
CT Bone Density:
This is an important screening exam used to determine if a
patient has osteoporosis.
Excelsior Springs Hospital
now offers Bone Density
testing in-house 6 days a
week via CT scan which is
the most accurate testing on
the market. Call your
physician today and ask to
have a bone density test.
Video Swallow Study:
Video swallow tests are used to evaluate swallowing function
for patients. This service
is offered two days a week.
Speech therapy assists
Radiology with this
procedure.
X-ray Results:
All procedures performed in Radiology are interpreted by
board certified Radiologists
from Alliance Radiology. The

via computer when not
in-house,
